Congratulations on taking a positive step towards better health! From here on allow us to help you in your weight loss efforts. Our program focuses on diet, exercise and stress management.
It is important to follow recommended dietary guidelines after bariatric surgery. These guidelines limit the amount of calories you consume, while providing balanced meals that help prevent nutrient deficiencies and preserve muscle tissue.
Our program is for 3 months and includes the following:
- Initial medical assessment by the doctor and monthly follow-up visits
- Group nutrition classes held weekly
- Mindfulness meditation classes held weekly
- Cooking classes held monthly
Medical assessment and follow-up
Our doctor will do your initial medical assessment and necessary blood-work including checking for vitamin and other nutrient deficiencies.
Group nutrition class
It is easier to stick with a nutrition plan when you have support and you can share your experiences with others who are going through the same journey. In our group sessions we will discuss behavioral, dietary and exercise topics.
Mindfulness meditation can be a very effective tool in weight loss by reducing stress eating and food cravings and helping you focus on mindful eating. Mindfulness meditation also sharpens a person’s ability to recognize internal cues that signal hunger and fullness.
At our cooking class we’ll teach you how to create a bowl focusing on calories, portions and combinations from a variety of cuisines. Each bowl will have about 3 items and will be a complete meal with total calories between 300 and 600.
